According to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), there are around 400,000 avoidable deaths in the UK each year where cold is a significant contributing factor. Over 80% of these deaths occur in people aged 75 and older.
Whilst supply shortages and extreme weather conditions are thankfully rare in Devon, delivery times can extend during winter months due to customer demand. The Cold Weather Priority Scheme enables us to identify those who are the most vulnerable to the cold and ensure they receive their deliveries in a timely manner during times of peak demand.
The Cold Weather Priority scheme was launched by trade association, The UK & Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA).
