Gabriela Wisniewska Wins Moorland Fuels Christmas Card Contest

Moorland Fuels is pleased to announce Gabriela Wisniewska, age 10, from Lifton has won the competition to design the fuel company’s Christmas card. Not only will the Christmas card be sent to Moorland Fuel’s customers throughout the Christmas period but Wisniewska’s winning design will also be featured on the back of one of the company’s tankers.

This is the second year Moorland Fuels has run the Christmas card competition.  This year almost 300 children from nine different schools throughout the area participated.

“The standard of entry was incredibly high this year,” said Moorland Fuels managing director, Ben More.  “Gabriela’s artwork stood out from the rest because she was the only entrant who drew a nativity scene.”

Wisniewska entered the competition because she likes drawing and entering art competitions.  She recently won a competition at her school (Lifton Primary School) to design the school logo. Wisniewska is the second girl from Lifton Primary School to win the Moorland Fuels Christmas Card Contest, as last year’s winner, Rosie Harris, is also a student there.

“I chose to do a traditional Christmas scene for my entry because without the story of Jesus’ birth, there would be no Christmas,” said Wisniewska.

Wisniewska will receive a family day out at Crealy Adventure Park, plus Moorland Fuels donated £50 to Wisniewska’s chosen charity of Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity

Moorland Fuels had two runners up in this year’s competition.  Tobin Collier, age 7 from Lydford drew a beautiful moorland winter scene around his tanker.  Moorland Fuels chose this one as a runner-up because it complemented the company’s moorland branding.  He has chosen to donate his £25 to his school – Lydford Primary School.

The second runner-up is Ollie Jones, age 13 from North Tawton who drew a very humorous Christmas card that showed Father Christmas’ legs inside the chimney.  His card was chosen as one of the runners up because of the detail and the colours in his picture. He chose to donate his £25 prize to DEC’s Philippine Typhoon Appeal.

A selection of Moorland Fuels’ favourite entries can be viewed on the company’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/moorlandfuels.

As the countdown to Christmas continues, the team at Moorland Fuels are encouraging people to check their oil tanks regularly and top up now before the peak pre-Christmas rush starts.  Moorland Fuels is also continuing to offer free delivery on coal orders of 10 bags or more, or customers can come to the company depot on North Road to pick up smaller orders of coal.
