When Moorland Fuels decided to add a new tanker to its fleet, the company thought hard about what imagery to use on the vehicle. The result is an eye catching design which shows Staple Tor covered in snow on one side of the tank and Watern Tor in the summer on the other.
“At Moorland Fuels we consider our tankers to be part of the landscape because they make so many regular deliveries throughout the local area,” said Ben More, managing director, Moorland Fuels. “We wanted a design that celebrated the Dartmoor area and also showcased our commitment to delivering fuel whatever the weather.”
Finding the right images to use was difficult. In the end, Moorland Fuels turned to the work of Alex Nail, a landscape photographer who grew up on the edge of Dartmoor. Nail has hiked all over the moor, often camping out overnight to capture his images. Although he now does much of his photography in mountain areas, he still regularly returns to shoot Dartmoor's unique landscape. Nail’s photographs can be seen on his Web site www.alexnail.com.
The new tanker enables Moorland Fuels to continue to deliver excellent service throughout the Dartmoor area and its surrounding landscape. The vehicle is a Euro 6 MAN short wheelbase tanker. This specially designed and built vehicle by Maine tankers is capable of carrying 13,000 litres of fuel and uses the very latest meter technology to deliver efficiently and accurately to customers.
The tanker with its beautiful artwork will be on display at Moorland Fuels’ show stand at the Okehampton, Chagford and Holsworthy Shows. The company is running a “Name the Tanker” competition at the shows. Anyone who visits the trade stand will have the opportunity to relax with some refreshments while deciding on what name to suggest for the tanker. The winner will receive a gift bag full of goodies from local companies.
Also at the shows, children can enter the Moorland Fuels Annual Christmas Card Competition. The theme of the contest is Christmas and the winning entry will be turned into the company’s Christmas card. To make designing the Christmas cards a little easier, Moorland Fuels has created templates of its tanker. The goal is to turn the tanker into works of art by adding colourful designs to the body of the tanker and adding scenery around the tanker.
To enter the contest, applicants must be 14 or under. Templates for the tanker can be downloaded from www.moorlandfuels.co.uk or hard copies can be picked up at the Moorland Fuels trade stand at the Okehampton, Chagford and Holsworthy shows. The deadline for entry is September 30, 2013.
“We get such great feedback every year on this competition,” said More. “The winner will receive a family day out for four, plus Moorland Fuels will donate £50 to a charity of the winner’s choosing. Two runners up will have £25 each donated to a charity of their choosing.”
