Be Aware of Bacterial Growth Inside Your Oil Tank

We all turn our heating off over the summer and try to avoid filling up the tank.  Now the weather is turning colder again, you want your heating systems to work efficiently. However, when oil tanks are left with only a small amount of oil in the bottom this summer, large surface areas are left on the walls of the tank where water can condense.

Moisture is all it takes for bacteria to build up and grow. After the bacteria dies, it falls to the bottom of your tank and helps create sludge - a leading cause of system breakdowns.

Moorland Fuels has an Anti-bug additive treatment which depending on the dosage can prevent a problem from occurring or treat an existing problem.

If you are unsure if you have a bacterial problem, or would like our engineer to look at your tank, please call us on 01837 55700 for a free tank health check.
